Buying Your First Golf Cart
How would you like to have your own golf cart? You might be surprised at how easy it is to get your own vehicle today. And you might also be surprised at how affordable it can be. This site is dedicated to some of the more popular issues associated with purchasing and owning your own golf cart.
New or Used?
This is one of the first questions that most people ask when they are considering the purchase of a golf cart. The decision to buy new or to buy used is often based on the person’s budget. It is no secret that like automobiles, golf carts lose value as they age. For many people buying a used vehicle will be the best choice, budget-wise. It is important, however, to inspect the vehicle before buying. This is especially true if you are buying a gasoline engine model. If you are not very mechanically minded, you may want to bring someone along who is. They can often spot problems that you might otherwise miss.
For those who can afford it, a new vehicle is the better choice. Most major manufacturers offer outstanding warranties on their products, which can be important should you encounter any problems with your new vehicle. In addition, a new vehicle purchase will almost always allow for you to add the accessories that you want most. From seat covers to steering wheel trim, all of this can be added, for a price, when you buy new.
Battery or Gas Powered?
This is usually the second question asked. If you are buying used, your options may be limited on this. After all if the local newspaper is advertising a used battery-powered model, well, that is what is being offered. You can increase your power option choices by visiting a local dealer. Most dealers have used models for sale as well as their new products. This often allows you the opportunity to buy the power source that you want.
While most newer models are battery powered, you can still find gasoline engine vehicles. Gas engines are often considered more powerful when it comes to pulling power. They are also considered easier to fuel up, compared to the charging procedures required for battery-powered golf cart models.
It should be noted, however, that gasoline engines often require much more maintenance. This is simply because they have more moving parts and more friction on the internal parts. As is the case with your automobile, your gas-powered golf cart will require oil changes, belt inspections and changes, and periodic tune ups. The vast majority of this work can be performed by the owner and the major maintenance work can often be performed by someone at the local pro shop.
Whether you decide to buy new or used, battery or gasoline, the decision to buy your own golf cart is an important one and should be considered carefully before you buy. And don’t forget that you may also need to purchase a trailer and hitch. Be sure to consider all of the costs before you jump into the sale.
We hope the information on this site makes that first purchase that much easier. Use the navigation options on the left to dive deeper into a particular category.
