Golf Cart Engines

I suppose the debate over golf cart engines will never end. Those who love electric power swear by them and those who love the gas models are equally convinced that they have the right choice. The simple truth today is that both are excellent choices when it comes to power, durability, and cost. Let’s take a closer look at these golf cart engines and see what we find.

One of the main reasons so many people are turning to the electric powered vehicles is because of the environment. These vehicles emit no fumes that could damage the air. Because of modern technology they are so much more powerful than they were in the past that they rival the gas powered units in power and pull.

The reason these golf cart engines have improved so much over the yeas is in the battery technology that is being used now. Electric vehicles use a whole bank of batteries which add up to substantial power levels. The normal volt level today is about 48 but you can find models that go as high as 72 volts. The amount of time that they can be driven normally gets up to as much as 30 miles and they can have speeds up to 25 mph with no problem.

If there is a drawback to these types of golf cart engines is the recharge time needed to get them back to full power. For the most part, you are looking at 6-8 hours minimum, with overnight being the norm.

In terms of golf cart engines that run on gas, a lot of improvements have been made on these as well over the years. One of the reasons a lot of people choose this type is because they plan to use the vehicle in some off road setting. Those who use the vehicles for hunting, fishing, hiking, etc, often prefer to have access to fuel which is not possible with electric vehicles used in these setting. In other words, you cannot plug into an outlet when you are in the middle of the woods. You can, however, have a gas can onboard.

The newer models of gas golf cart engines do not require the mixing of fuel as was common in the old days. This is a huge improvement and has helped to bring back this type of motor for consumer use. To get this feature you will have to go with a four cycle motor and not the older two-cycle motors. You will also find that with the newer models of gas powered golf cart engines the noise level is substantially less than what it was in the past. The same is true with exhaust fumes and smoke. As mentioned above, a lot of work has gone into improving these motor and it shows.

Regardless of which type of golf cart engines you prefer, you will find a lot of options today that you would not have found in the past. You will find that the prices of both types have become very competitive.
